"L'anno scorso ho scoperto la Finlandia; ho cominciato quest'anno scoprendo Firenze. Dopo tutto, è una questione di ordine alfabetico. Tutto ciò ben si addice alla mia nevrosi, che unisce ambizioni enciclopediche e manie rigorosamente metodiche. Prima della Giamaica dovrebbe venire la Francia" Giorgio Manganelli.

Michael Moore on Trump

Everyone must stop saying they are “stunned” and “shocked”. What you mean to say is that you were in a bubble and weren’t paying attention to your fellow Americans and their despair. YEARS of being neglected by both parties, the anger and the need for revenge against the system only grew. Along came a TV star they liked whose plan was to destroy both parties and tell them all “You’re fired!” Trump’s victory is no surprise. He was never a joke. Treating him as one only strengthened him. He is both a creature and a creation of the media and the media will never own that.

The opposite of love is not hatred; it is indifference. When we have learned indifference, when we are really skilled and determined at the business of ignoring others, of putting our own well-being, our own options, first — of thrusting our own ego into life, as the ideal form of life itself — we may be quite certain that at that point, life has become hell. We need be no more thoroughly damned.

J.L. David, Filippo Mazzei

<<The great doctrine All men are created equal and incorporated into the Declaration of Independence by Thomas Jefferson, was paraphrased from the writing of Philip Mazzei, an Italian-born patriot and pamphleteer, who was a close friend of Jefferson. A few alleged scholars try to discredit Mazzei as the creator of this statement and idea, saying that "there is no mention of it anywhere until after the Declaration was published". This phrase appears in Italian in Mazzei's own hand, written in Italian, several years prior to the writing of the Declaration of Independence. Mazzei and Jefferson often exchanged ideas about true liberty and freedom. No one man can take complete credit for the ideals of American democracy>> (J.F.Kennedy)
